Dr. Nathaniel Atikumi is the Head of the Department of Sciences at Presbyterian College of Education, where he leads the academic and administrative direction of the department. A dedicated educator and seasoned scholar, Dr. Atikumi brings over two decades of experience in Ghana’s education sector, having taught at all levels—from basic through tertiary—since 2001.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), a Master of Philosophy (MPhil), and a Bachelor’s degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from the University of Cape Coast, obtained in 2023, 2014, and 2009 respectively. His early education includes training at St. Francis College of Education in Hohoe and St. Mary’s Seminary Senior High School in Lolobi, both in the Volta Region.
Prior to his current role, he served in various capacities including unit head, academic counsellor, and sports master. He is also actively involved in the teaching of Physical Education courses and serves as an examiner.
Dr. Atikumi’s research interests include physical exercise participation, fitness, and gender and inclusivity issues in physical activity. He has a growing portfolio of peer-reviewed publications and educational handbooks.
